Budapest - the one who won my heart over

This was a long-desired but spontaniously planned trip that i forced one of my sisters to go on with me. I always felt like some places in this world are unappreciated and i grew a need inside myself to explore them and give them a little bit of love in exchange for the magic-filled memories. Budapest happened to be one of them. I am fully aware that many of you are probably surprised to hear that for widely known reasons but let me stop you here for a second and explain my place so we won't have any unnecessary misunderstandings and be aware of what i am trying to transmit.

Didn't i mention at the beginning of this post that i had to literally beg my sister to go with me to Hungary's capital city? Exactly. Like almost every inhabitant of my country, we polish people tend to dream of spending our summer holidays on one of those exotic islands or coasts that names are hard to pronounce and where blue waters' depth merges with the sky's transparency. I dream about it too but i feel like there is much more that i want to see than the palm trees and rainbow drinks in hands of every tourist getting a tan on sandy beaches. Of course, one day i will go on vacations like this to just chill and feed my laziness so i can have enough strenght for the coming year of hard work, but for now i want to dive into the history of old castles, black and white photos and noisy streets where the spoken language is nothing i could understand. Besides after over a decade of internet friendships, it's about time to meet those wonderful people who's been there for me for i don't know how long.
In Poland we have several weeks off work during the year, but one of the most important period for the travelers, except summer holidays, is the beginning of May where the National Constitution Day takes place as well as the Flag Day and the International Labor Day. That's why we have like a week off and usually we all decide to spend it somewhere abroad. This year Budapest was my destination.
Tell me you have already been enchanted by this river-crossed south-located city? If not, check the transport and book the cheapest hostel right in the center of the town! Don't waste any minute anymore! Here are some of the milion reasons why.
The Currency. The currency will freaking sweep you of your feet and it will get you to a constant and irreversible state of a beautiful confusion that will make you feel like you're on a different planet. Instead of paying in tens or hundreds you will be paying in thousands. Wheather you like it or not, you will not be able to estimate how much can you spend for souvenirs or for dinner and if it is a lot or not, but i assure you that you will have a heck of fun just because of that. I remember once we went to a restaurant together with my sister and for one plate of pasta and another of a soup we paid 5000 hungarian foreints and we could not even calculate how much was is. Whenever i get back to that memory i can't stop laughing.

The Parliament. It does not look like any other Parliament you have seen. To be honest, it looks more like a Hogwart castle with a view on the Danube and the whole city. The creamy-coloured construction with the pointed towers of round shape and the monumental front stairs make it look like from the movies, not reality. The only pity is that we could not go inside and see if it's as magnificent as on the outside.     Bridges. As the sources show, there are as far back 14 bridges is Budapest. Imagine how big the city has to be to hold such a huge number of bridges in itself. Fortunately only 3 of them are located in the very center and are famous among visitors. All of them look completely different and have different colors: white, yellow and blue. I will leave you here with a little mistery and let you find on your own what are their names. You can let me know down in the commens which ones are they and i will let you know in the next post if you guessed correctly :)

Gellert's Hill. This attraction we decided to leave for the last day of our stay in Budapest and honestly we've been so exhausted after four days of sightseeing the city without using any public transport, just our own feet, that we were wondering all day long if we have enough strenght to make it to the very top of the hill. Happily we decided that we had to use this opportunity and accept the challenge just reaching it in our own pace. Every single step we made, every word of complaint, it was all worth it. The view from the hill was simply breathtaking and the fortress... you have to see in with your own eyes.

Finally - Matthias Church. Pure Disney Cinderella Palace. If you need an instagram session in Budapest, you've found the perfect place. If only i had a princess dress, i would actually feel like one! I lack words to describe the place and the impression on me. I am simply speechless while still having the picture in my head drew with all the details. You can contemplate the view on the picture down below which shows just a thiny part of the whole area where the Matthias Church is located. Just like the fortless, it is placed on the hill right on the other side of the Danube, in front of the hungarian Parliament.
I know those are just few from the million reasons why you should visit Budapest but i can't tell you all, you have to discover it on your own! I will keep my fingers crossed for you to find a way to visit this city and decide on your own if it seduced you and made you fall in love with it deeply. If it actually did, i hope you will let the world know.

Yours,

Anett Cristy Joane

PS. Enjoy the night time city photos that i took right after the sunset.
